Sculpting Tutorial
by K&L Customs

Well we have had more than a few request to do a tutorial on how we sculpt our hair. We by no means consider ourselves experts, this is just the method that we have found works best for us. We hope that someone will be able to take from this and use it, or develope it into a method that works best for you.

First off is decide which character you want to do! Here we have chose Lady Mastermind.

Then you have to pick a base figure you want to use. We chose ML Psylock. Prep the figure by sanding, dremeling, or exacto cutting off any unwanted detail.
Then wash the figure with soap and water to get all the dust and crud off of it!

Next we try to visualize the style we want, and once we have a idea, we roll the apoxie sculpt into little snakes and apply them to the base figures head in the general shape we want the hair to be.

Then once we have this done, we use our favorite tool, the broken pencil with a safety pin duck taped to it, to make the details in the hair.

Remember, when making the lines in the hair, press the side of the pin into the hair, and keep the pin wet, frequently dipping it into a cup of water. We try not to slide the pin in the apoxie as it has a tendency to tear on us, and we prefer the press method.

The tip of the pin is perfect for making the root area along the forehead!

When we finish it looks like this! And just remember if your new to customizing, practice makes perfect. The beauty of customizing is if you mess up, you can just dremel it off and try again.

Take a look at a few more examples of our hair sculpts, and just remember. We know first hand, that it just takes practice so as our good friend GRANDPA has told us so many times. NEVER QUIT! NEVER GIVE UP! JUST TRY TO KEEP GETTING BETTER!
